A Study of the Home Care Needs of Colostmy Patients

Abstract
|
|
|
The purpose of this study were to identify the home care needs and to identify the home care need according to sex, age, religion, marital status, education level and occupation of subjects of study. Fifty patients sent the replies and of them inadequate four were excluded and forty six replies were analysis.
The questionnaire was sent to the each of them by mail from July,1994 to Aug,1994 only fifty subjects of as a same and were used for a final analysis. the questionnaire includes general individual characteristics, contents related to colostomy and sales for measurement of home care needs, 15 items were used on descriptive rating scale.
The analysis of this study was tested by T-test and one-way ANAVA. Results were as fallow ;
1. The rank of home-care needs related colostomy were odor control, sexual life with a spouse, leakage, enema or irrigation, defecation of condition, teals. The lowest home care needs in items were clothing, sleeping, management of nutrition.
2. There was significant difference in home care needs according to marital status. T-2.68 (p>0.01), and there was no significant difference in home care needs according to age, religion, education level of general individual characteristics (p<0.01).
3. There was no significant difference in homecare needs according to contents related to colostomy.
